20th Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta: 9 Things to Love About the #BalloonFestPH
CLARK FREEPORT ZONE – Last February 11-14, 2016, the 20th Philippine International
Hot Air Balloon Fiesta took place in Clark Freeport. It is the
longest-running sports and aviation festivity that aims to showcase a wide
array of Hot Air Balloons from different parts of the world and exhibitions of
different aviation disciplines, including aerobatics, skydiving,
paragliding, remote control aircraft, and kite flying. Hot air balloons from
the Philippines and other countries have flown high in the early morning, and
illuminated the evenings.
The large number of attendees and stunning photos posted
online are testimonies that PIHABF 2016 was a success. There are a lot of
things to love about this year’s Balloon Fest, and here are our top picks:
1. The Philippine Air Force Marching Band

The Balloon Fest program was officially opened by the
Philippine Air Force Marching Band! What a grand way to start the fest.
2. Skydiving Philippine Flag Jump

There’s nothing quite like looking the Philippine flag up
with pride with your right hand on your chest, while singing the national
anthem. The PIHABF team gave it a twist by flying the Philippine flag via
skydiving during the flag ceremony. The flag landed just in time for the ending
of the national anthem. Now that’s one for the books!
3. It’s a Weekend of Everything That Flies,
literally!

PIHABF lived up to its tagline – “A Weekend of Everything
That Flies!” Aside from hot air balloons, you will see kites, aerobatic
exhibitions, radio controlled aircrafts, people skydiving and paragliding, and
many more!
4. Animals from Zoocobia

5. Three Wedding Proposals
Yes, you read that right. Three wedding proposals happened
last weekend. The spirit of Valentine’s Day backed up with the stunning hot air
balloons as backdrop made it possible and it was nothing short of romantic.
Congratulations and best wishes, you guys!

6. Souvenirs

These miniature balloons are too cute to resist! It’s nice
to know you can take these and the great memories from the balloon fest with
you! Kites and other souvenir items were also sold during the fest.
7. Freebies
Most of the sponsors/exhibitors gave away freebies and/or
gifts during the fest. Midori
Clark Hotel and Casino offered FREE
discount vouchers for 60% off on room rates and 40% off on spa services to
people who visited our booth and participated in our mini games. Midori umbrellas and desk calendars were
given away, too!
In addition to those, we ran a photo contest that would
entitle the winner of a FREE Overnight Stay with Breakfast for Two (2)!
We will announce the winner on February 29, 2016!
8. Concerts

The fun doesn’t stop after the sun sets. Concerts of
different artists took place to make hot air balloon nights more entertaining.
9. Hot Air Balloon Night Glow
Every night, after the balloons have flown in, they stay
pumped up and illuminated for the Night Glow event. A sky full of stars and
balloons, anyone? :)
