Let's face it, exercise is something most people find uninteresting due to laziness or as we Filipinos use the term "nakakatamad." A lot of people would rather sit and watch television, browse the internet or check their social media accounts than swim, bike or jog. The thing is exercise is good for your body. It is healthy because it increases your stamina, strengthens your muscles and overall makes you fit. The question is how do you make exercise interesting or fun? This is why Clark Development Corporation in partnership with Department of Tourism - Region 3 came up with the Bike Tour Expo 2016. The Bike Tour is something similar to a bike race but not quite. The Bike Tour Expo allows the biker or racer to leisurely pedal at his or her own pace. This gives the biker freedom if he or she is not that athletic. There are a total of 15 pit-stops all around Clark and Midori Clark Hotel and Casino is included in one of those stops.

We also introduced a photo contest with the bikers and it was an instant hit. The mechanics is that whoever has the most liked photo on our Facebook fan page gets a free overnight stay for two with complimentary breakfast! Knowing this, dozens and dozens of bikers gathered up to take a photo. Here are a few of the many bikers who showed up to take a photo at our booth. I am sure you are wondering what are those unique and awesome looking bamboo bikes that can be seen in most of our photos? These bamboo bikes are called Bambikes. Bambike is a socio-ecological enterprise based in the Philippines that hand-makes bamboo bicycles with fair-trade labor and sustainable building practices. The bamboo bike builders (aka Bambuilders) come from Gawad Kalinga, a Philippine based community development organization for the poor, working to bring an end to poverty. The have programs that include scholarships, sponsoring a preschool teacher, and a weekly feeding program for children, as well as a bamboo nursery for reforestation. Bambike is a company that is interested in helping out people and the planet, dedicated to social and environmental stewardship.
